The Adua ceremony of Ubwayaa Zakaria Tahir Kuta III, Zorsimdi Naa I, Paramount Chief of Chamba, took place on Sunday, 8th March 2026, at the forecourt of the Chamba Chief Palace in Hot Coffee, Nima 441, Accra.
The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including The Ambassador of the Republic of Suriname, H.E. Fidelia Grand Galon, the National Chief Imam, MP elect of East Ayawaso, Chief of Nima Nii Futa, Council of Ayawaso Chiefs, Council of Zongo Chiefs, and representatives from various organizations.
Notable attendees included members of the Chamba Professional Forum, Chamba Youth Council, Chamba Youth Association, Kuta Family, and Acrossfaiths Foundation, an interfaith organization founded by the late chief, where he served as Executive Director.
The Surinamese Ambassador, a special guest mourner, delivered a remarkable speech, sharing a poignant story of her meeting with the chief at an event in 2023. She revealed that the chief had expressed interest in reconnecting with the people of Grenada, who share Chamba ancestry due to the transatlantic slave trade. Coincidentally, a Chamba woman from Suriname was present at the event, and the chief’s enthusiasm was palpable.

Three years ago Hajj Abdul Samad Ibn Chambas, National Youth Chief of Chamba, with his company Ijahra Company Limited and his friend had organized and financed the chief’s trip to Suriname, via Havana, Cuba.
She highlighted the historical ties between Suriname and the Chamba people, noting that some Surinamese people, including her own grandfather, have Chamba roots.
Other notable speakers included the daughter of the late chief, who shared a heartfelt biography of her father, and the National Chief Imam, who prayed for Allah’s mercy on the departed soul.
The event was marked by tributes, speeches, and donations from various groups and individuals, demonstrating the respect and admiration for the late chief’s contributions to the Chamba community and beyond.
