President John Dramani Mahama has extended the condolences of the Government and people of Ghana to the Royal Family and people of Dagbon following the passing of His Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II.
In a heartfelt tribute, President Mahama described the late overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom as a remarkable traditional ruler whose reign was defined by peace, reconciliation, and unity after years of conflict.
The President acknowledged Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II’s pivotal role in restoring stability to Dagbon, noting that his leadership helped heal longstanding divisions and strengthened the kingdom’s traditional institutions. He said the late King’s commitment to dialogue and harmony earned him the admiration of Ghanaians across the country.
President Mahama further stated that the Yaa Naa’s wisdom, humility, and dedication to the welfare of his people would remain an enduring legacy for future generations.
He offered prayers for the repose of the late King’s soul and asked God to grant the Royal Family, the people of Dagbon, and the entire nation the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
The passing of Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II marks the end of a significant chapter in the history of Dagbon, with many paying tribute to his efforts in fostering peace, reconciliation, and development throughout his reign.
President Mahama concluded by assuring the people of Dagbon that the Government stands with them during this difficult period of mourning, while honouring the memory of a traditional leader whose contribution to national unity will not be forgotten.
