Corrections Policy
Last Updated: 21 August 2026
The Accra Daily Mail is committed to publishing accurate, fair and responsible journalism.
We understand that mistakes can sometimes happen in journalism. When we identify a genuine error, we believe it is important to correct it clearly rather than ignore it.
Our corrections policy explains how we handle factual errors, updates and reader complaints about information published on our website.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
Before publishing a story, our editorial team makes reasonable efforts to check important facts, names, dates, figures, quotes and other information.
However, no newsroom is perfect.
When an error is identified, we review it and take appropriate action.
What We Correct
We may correct errors involving:
-
Names
-
Dates
-
Locations
-
Figures
-
Statistics
-
Company information
-
Job titles
-
Quotes
-
Links
-
Headlines
-
Captions
-
Other factual information
The seriousness of the error will determine how we handle the correction.
Minor Errors
Small errors that do not change the meaning of a story, such as spelling, grammar or formatting mistakes, may be corrected without a formal correction notice.
Significant Errors
If an error changes an important fact or could give readers a wrong understanding of an event, person, company or organisation, we may publish a correction notice.
Where appropriate, the correction may appear within the article or at the end of the article.
Serious Errors
If a story contains a serious factual error, we may:
-
Correct the article
-
Add a correction notice
-
Update the headline
-
Remove inaccurate information
-
Publish a clarification
-
Withdraw the story where necessary
We do not remove an accurate story simply because an individual or organisation disagrees with its contents.
Reader Corrections
Readers are encouraged to contact us when they believe an article contains an important factual error.
When contacting us, please provide:
-
The article title
-
The article URL
-
The specific information you believe is incorrect
-
The correct information, where possible
-
A reliable source or evidence supporting your correction
Send corrections to:
Email: communicate@samboad.org
Correction Requests From Individuals or Organisations
A company, government institution, public official or individual may contact us regarding information published about them.
A request for a correction does not automatically mean that we will change the article.
Our editorial team will review the claim and available evidence before deciding whether an amendment is necessary.
Corrections vs Disagreements
We distinguish between a factual error and a disagreement.
A person or organisation may disagree with:
-
Our analysis
-
An opinion expressed by a contributor
-
A reported statement
-
The interpretation of an event
-
The fact that a story was published
Such disagreement does not necessarily mean that an article contains an error.
Updates
When a developing story changes significantly, we may update the article to reflect new information.
Where necessary, we may indicate that the story has been updated.
Transparency
Our aim is not to pretend that mistakes never happen.
Our responsibility is to identify genuine errors and correct them responsibly.
We believe readers deserve journalism that is honest about both what we know and what we later discover to be wrong.
