Accra, Ghana – The life and legacy of Ubwayaa Zakaria Tahir Kuta III, Zorsimdi Naa I, Paramount Chief of Chamba, was celebrated at a solemn Adua ceremony held at the Chamba Chief Palace in Hot Coffee, Nima 441, Accra.
The event, attended by dignitaries, including the Ambassador of the Republic of Suriname, H.E. Fidelia Grand Galon, and the National Chief Imam, paid tribute to the late chief’s tireless efforts to promote peace, unity, and development among the Chamba people.
National Youth Chief of Chamba, Umoja Bwe Ambassador Hajj Abdul Samad Said Ibn Chambas, delivered a heartfelt eulogy, highlighting the chief’s unwavering commitment to Chamba unity and reintegration. “He dedicated his life to the Chamba community, promoting peace, unity, and development. His legacy will live on through our traditions, culture, and the lives he touched,” he said.
The first daughter of the late chief, Zulaikha Zakaria Kuta, shared a poignant biography of her father, tracing his life from his early days to his ascension to the throne in 2009. She noted that he had worked tirelessly to strengthen Chamba’s bond with their Northern counterparts, earning the title Zorsimdi Naa, “Promoter of Peace”.
Ubwayaa Zakaria Tahir Kuta III was a visionary leader who extended his vision beyond Ghana, connecting with African Diasporas in the Caribbeans and Suriname in South America. He established Acrossfaiths Foundation, a non-profit organization promoting interfaith dialogue and cooperation, and served as its first Executive Director.
He is survived by two wives and eight children. May Allah have mercy on his soul and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Amen.
