October 17, 2025 -St. Georgeβs, Grenada β The Governments of Grenada and the Republic of Ghana have signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector through the temporary deployment of Ghanaian Registered Nurses to Grenada.
The agreement was formalized in Accra, Ghana, during an official visit by Prime Minister, the Honourable Dickon Mitchell, accompanied by the Honourable Joseph Andall, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development and a delegation from Grenada. The MoU was signed by Minister Andall on behalf of Grenada and the Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ghana, on behalf of his government.
Through this partnership, Grenada seeks to improve healthcare delivery, address workforce gaps, and strengthen its public health response. For Ghana, the programme offers international exposure and professional growth for nurses, while supporting the sustainable development of its health system and fostering cooperation in health, human resources, and people-to-people exchange.
Beyond healthcare, the agreement symbolizes a broader vision to deepen CaribbeanβAfrican ties, advance SouthβSouth cooperation, and foster diplomatic, technical, and educational linkages. It is expected to serve as a model for future collaboration in sectors such as education, trade, and capacity building under the AfricaβCARICOM partnership.
The MoU will take effect following the completion of internal ratification processes in both countries.
Prime Minister, Honourable Dickon Mitchell underscored the significance of this partnership, stating,

The Governments of Ghana and Grenada have expressed optimism that this agreement, will serve as a model for future cooperation across other sectors, including education, trade, and capacity building, and will open new avenues for collaboration within the framework of the AfricaβCARICOM partnership.
