The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU), in collaboration with the Volta Regional Rugby Association, has successfully organised an impactful outreach programme for students of OLA Senior High School in Ho under its Rugby Rising Play Ghana initiative.
Held under the theme “Strong Girls, Bright Futures: Menstrual Health & Teenage Pregnancy,” the programme combined health education, life skills training, and practical rugby sessions to empower young girls with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills needed to make informed decisions about their future.
Participants also had the opportunity to experience rugby, learning the sport’s core values of respect, discipline, teamwork, and resilience while engaging in fun and interactive activities.
The initiative forms part of Ghana Rugby’s broader commitment to using sport as a powerful tool for education, empowerment, and creating opportunities for the next generation of young people across the country.

The Ghana Rugby Football Union expressed its appreciation to its President, Ms. Rafatu Inusah, Rugby Rising Chairperson Ms. Samira Mensah, President of the Volta Regional Rugby Association Ms. Anita Atieku, the management and Physical Education teachers of OLA Senior High School, facilitators, volunteers, health professionals, and sponsors Kivo, Sunda, and Minimie Atsomo for their invaluable support in ensuring the success of the programme.
According to the Union, the dedication of all stakeholders continues to inspire and empower young girls through rugby, education, and mentorship.

The Rugby Rising Play Ghana initiative remains committed to building stronger girls and brighter futures, one community at a time, while promoting positive social change through sport across Ghana.
