Decathlon Ghana has thrown its support behind the 2026 Cheetah Cup with a donation of footballs, contributing to efforts to ensure a successful and memorable edition of the international youth football tournament.
The support from Decathlon Ghana represents an important contribution towards the development of youth football and provides practical assistance as young talents from across Africa prepare to converge at the Yartel Okoso Park, popularly known as the Predators Den, in Senya Beraku in Ghana’s Central Region.
The 2026 Cheetah Cup is scheduled to take place from August 16 to August 23, 2026, bringing together 32 clubs from 13 African countries for a week-long celebration of youth football.
The tournament will feature 24 boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams, providing a platform for young footballers to showcase their talent, compete at an international level and build valuable relationships through sport.
Decathlon is a globally recognised multinational sporting goods retailer with approximately 1,902 stores across 82 countries and regions. Widely regarded as the world’s largest sporting goods retailer, the company has built a reputation around making sports accessible while supporting participation and sporting development.
Its contribution to the Cheetah Cup therefore adds significant value to a tournament whose core objective is to create opportunities for the next generation of African football stars.
The 2026 Cheetah Cup, organised by Cheetah Football Club, will feature competitive boys’ and girls’ categories, with participating teams expected to battle for honours while gaining invaluable tournament experience.
Boys’ Competition
The boys’ competition will be divided into four groups.
Group A: Namoro FC, Black Man Warrior, Vialla Real Africa and Gaz Nobles.
Group B: FC Samartex, CFFA Foot, Hearts of Oak and Dream Team.
Group C: New Gen, P-Sports, Mbakasoko and Cheetah FC.
Group D: MSK Zilina, Pan African, Kacis Club and Oma Senya.
Girls’ Championship
The girls’ competition will also feature eight teams, namely:
Faith Ladies, FC Samartex Ladies, Gabfix Ladies, Sissamba Ladies, Black Ladies, Blessed Ladies, Valued Ladies and FefGen.
With the tournament just days away, the partnership with Decathlon Ghana further strengthens preparations for an event expected to attract attention from football enthusiasts, scouts, coaches and youth development stakeholders.
Beyond the competition itself, the Cheetah Cup provides an opportunity to identify and nurture emerging talent while promoting friendship, discipline, teamwork and cultural exchange among young footballers from different parts of Africa.
The support from Decathlon Ghana is therefore more than a donation of footballs; it is a contribution towards creating an enabling environment where young players can dream, compete and take important steps in their football journeys.
