The stage is set for one of the biggest matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup as Portugal and Spain have officially named their starting lineups for their highly anticipated Round of 16 encounter.
Portugal head coach Roberto Martínez has entrusted veteran captain Cristiano Ronaldo to lead the attack in what could be one of the defining moments of his final World Cup campaign. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner will spearhead the frontline, supported by the creative trio of Pedro Neto, Bruno Fernandes and João Félix.
In midfield, Vitinha and João Neves will be responsible for controlling possession and protecting the back four, while João Cancelo, Rúben Dias, Renato Veiga and Nuno Mendes line up in front of goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
Spain, meanwhile, arrive with one of the tournament’s most exciting young squads. Goalkeeper Unai Simón starts behind a defence of Pedro Porro, Pau Cubarsí, Aymeric Laporte and Marc Cucurella.
The midfield features the influential duo of Rodri and Pedri, with the attacking trio of teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo and Álex Baena providing creativity behind striker Mikel Oyarzabal.
