The Savannah Region Rugby Association (SRRA), accompanied by some of its players, had the privilege of paying a courtesy call on the Kpembewura, Banbange Ndefosu IV (Daari Haruna Bismark) to formally introduce the Association and highlight the rugby teams representing the region.
During the visit, the President of SRRA, Nurudeen Miran Jaraah and his delegation shared that the Savannah Region is currently home to two active clubs — Jakpa Rugby Club and Salaga Rugby Club.
They also briefed the Kpembewura on the region’s participation in the National 7s Championship, proudly presenting their certificates of participation as proof of their progress.
The Kpembewura, Banbange Ndefosu IV commended the team for their commitment and passion for the sport.
He urged them to continue strengthening their training and assured the Association of his full support in advancing rugby’s growth within the Savannah Region.
With the backing of traditional leadership and the determination of its players, rugby in the Savannah Region is on a steady rise.

For SRRA, this visit marks not just a formal introduction but also the beginning of a journey to establish rugby as a thriving sport in the region.
