Swearing-In of New Members to the Audit Committee of Tema Oil Refinery

Today, 20th August 2025, the Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Mr. Thomas Thomson Aryee, swore in three additional members to the Audit Committee of Tema Oil Refinery Ltd.

The new members are:

Mr. Samuel Kwadjo Akukumah – Member (Internal Audit Agency Representative)

Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah – Member (Board Representative)

Mr. Robert Kembes Ofosuware – Member (Board Representative)

This exercise is mandatory under the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921). Section 87 of the Act requires the constitution of a five-member Audit Committee for public institutions.

In his remarks, Mr. Aryee reminded the Committee of its mandate as outlined in Section 88 of the Act. He urged members to uphold the principles of good corporate governance, which remain a central pillar of President Mahama’s agenda to promote transparency and accountability.

Prior to his remarks, the Director-General administered the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy to the newly sworn-in members.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Usuman A. Rasak, also welcomed the new members, assuring both Management and the IAA of their collective commitment to strengthen governance practices in support of government’s Reset Agenda.

Also present at the ceremony was the Managing Director of TOR, Mr. Edmond Kombat, Esq., who reaffirmed Management’s full support and readiness to collaborate closely with the Audit Committee to ensure the smooth execution of its mandate for the benefit of the Refinery. Other members of TOR’s General Management Team equally expressed their joy at the inauguration and pledged their support towards effective collaboration between the Committee and Management.

Importantly, the ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Bismark Aborbi Ayitey, Deputy Director of the Internal Audit Agency, who graced the occasion to observe proceedings.

Tema Oil Refinery remains committed to working in consonance with the laws of the country and to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance as it prepares to resume production in October 2025.
