We are thrilled to announce that the Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan, has officially cut sod for the construction of a new 500-bed student hostel on the Tamale Campus.
This landmark project is a direct response to the growing need for comfortable and accessible student accommodation.
Upon completion, the hostel is set to benefit a significant majority of students, greatly easing the housing pressure that has been a challenge for our community.
The hostel, which will be a seven-storey facility with a sports arena, restaurant and car park, is a project of the Ghana Universities Staff Superannuation Scheme (GUSSS) and is expected to be completed within 24 months, It will be constructed by FT Global Investment Limited.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that this is more than just a building, it’s a commitment to our students’ well-being and success. He stated:
“This hostel will not only provide students with adequate accommodation but will also create an environment that promotes comfort and well-being. With these added facilities, we are looking at a space that encourages both academic and social interaction.”
This development marks a major step forward in enhancing the student experience at UDS, providing a modern, conducive living and learning environment.
