The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, on Wednesday 20th August, 2025 at the margins of the ongoing Summit of the 9th Tokyo International Conference for Africa Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, Japan.
The MoU on Space Business Cooperation is between the Government of Ghana and Japan’s Cross U. At the signing ceremony, the Honourable Minister underscored that the signing of the agreement marks a significant milestone in the relations of the two countries as it brings Ghana and Japan together as partners to co-create for mutual benefits. He stated that Ghana is determined to harness space science and technology for sustainable development.

In line with the MoU, Ghana will focus on disaster resilience, agricultural monitoring, urban planning among others using satellite data and innovation to address challenging issues.
The parties assured of their commitment for cooperation with both the public and private sectors to advance the relations between the countries.
