The Ghana Senior Men’s Sevens Rugby Team, affectionately known as the Eagles, is gearing up for a thrilling challenge as they kick off their campaign in the 2025 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens Cup.
The team will face off against Uganda, Kenya, and the Welwitschias of Côte d’Ivoire in a bid to qualify for the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series and potentially secure a spot in the Olympic Games.
The Eagles’ journey begins on June 21, 2025, when they take on Uganda, one of the strongest teams in African Rugby. This will be followed by matches against Kenya and the Welwitschias of Côte d’Ivoire on June 22, 2025. The two-day qualifiers will be a test of the team’s skills, strategy, and determination.
Ghana’s pool is considered tough, but the Eagles are determined to make their mark. With a strong performance, they could potentially qualify for the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series, which would be a significant achievement for Ghanaian rugby.
