Asante Kotoko goalie Felix Annan has been pronounced the best local footballer of the year at this year’s edition of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards on Saturday evening.
The 25-year-old saw off contest from past AshantiGold sporting club striker Shafiu Mumuni and former Hearts of oak and now Dreams football club striker Joseph Esso to snatch the distinguished award.
Annan was influential for Asante Kotoko last year during the CAF Inter-club competitions.
He helped his club to secure CAF Champions League qualification after winning the Normalization Committee tier I tournament and reached the semifinals in tier II where Kotoko lost 3-1 to eventual winners Ashgold.
Annan represented Ghana at the 2019 WAFU tournament in Senegal where the Black Stars B emerged as winners, he also got selected into the senior national team by Coach Kwesi Appiah for the African cup of nations in Egypt.
