Ghana’s Black Satellites have suffered an early exit from the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship after failing to register a single victory in the group stage, bringing a disappointing end to their campaign in Côte d’Ivoire.
Maxwell Konadu’s side concluded their Group B fixtures with a goalless draw against Togo at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Sunday, a result that confirmed their elimination from the regional tournament.
The Black Satellites opened their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Togo before settling for a 1-1 stalemate against Burkina Faso. Needing a positive result to keep their hopes alive, Ghana fell to a 4-2 defeat against Nigeria, leaving them without a win in three matches.

Despite the disappointing showing at the WAFU B Championship, Ghana’s hopes of competing on the continental stage remain intact. The Black Satellites have already secured qualification for the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by virtue of Ghana hosting the tournament.
The team will now return home to assess its performance and begin preparations for the continental championship, where expectations will be high for the four-time African champions to mount a serious challenge for the title in front of their home fans.
The early exit serves as a wake-up call for the technical team and players as they look to rebuild and improve ahead of the 2027 U-20 AFCON.
