Accra Hearts of Oak have completed the signing of former Accra Lions captain Dominic Nsobila in a dramatic deadline-day move, beating the transfer deadline to secure the midfielder at 11:57pm.

The Phobians hijacked what was understood to be a near-completed move to Aduana FC, securing Nsobila’s signature at the eleventh hour as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.

The 23-year-old has signed a two-year contract with Hearts of Oak and will return to the Ghana Premier League following a stint in the United Arab Emirates with Dibba Al-Hisn SC.

Nsobila previously established himself as one of Accra Lions’ key players, making 68 league appearances for the club. His performances also earned him a call-up to Ghana’s Black Galaxies squad for the 2022 CHAN tournament.

The box-to-box midfielder is known for his energy, ball-winning ability and long-range shooting, qualities that are expected to bring greater steel and dynamism to Nebojša Kapoor’s midfield rebuild.

His arrival represents another significant addition for Hearts of Oak, who will be hoping the former Accra Lions skipper can play a key role in their push for success.

Nsobila is expected to be unveiled as a Phobian in the coming days.
