Asante Kotoko have completed the permanent signing of Ivorian attacker Eric Gbetta as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 21-year-old winger joins the Porcupine Warriors after gaining experience in Oman, where he featured for Ibri Club and later Al-Wahda SC. He is capable of operating on either flank and is known for his pace, dribbling ability and attacking movement.
Gbetta spent part of the 2024/25 campaign with Ibri Club in the Oman Professional League. One of his notable appearances came against Al-Shabab SC on April 21, 2025, when he started on the right side of Ibri’s attack in a 0-4 defeat. He was later substituted in the second half.
His most significant scoring contribution came on May 3, 2025, when Ibri hosted Bahla Club. Gbetta opened the scoring in the sixth minute to give Ibri an early 1-0 lead. His goal was recorded as a direct corner, before Bahla eventually turned the game around to win 3-1.
Gbetta was also involved in Ibri’s league campaign earlier in the season, including appearances against Al-Seeb and Sohar. Available match records show him featuring as a winger, underlining his role as an attacking option for the Omani side.
Although available public databases contain incomplete historical records of his appearances and goals, his goal against Bahla provides a clear indication of his attacking threat. Flashscore’s available career data lists him with Ibri in the 2024/25 Oman Professional League, while Transfermarkt identifies him primarily as a right winger, with the ability to play on the left or as a second striker.
Gbetta’s arrival adds another attacking option to Asante Kotoko as the Kumasi giants prepare for the new campaign. The Ivorian’s pace, direct running and ability to create opportunities from wide positions could provide an additional dimension to the Porcupine Warriors’ attack.
The permanent acquisition also represents another move by Kotoko to build a competitive squad capable of challenging on both domestic and continental fronts in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
