Dominant. Decisive. Ghana’s national rugby sevens team, the Eagles, delivered a spirited performance on Day One of the ongoing Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens 2025 tournament in Mauritius.
The Eagles made a strong statement in their opening game, stunning Uganda with a 17–7 victory. Their tactical discipline and explosive play caught their opponents off guard, setting the tone for an eventful group stage.
However, Ghana faced a tough challenge in their second fixture, falling to a 33–0 defeat against a ruthless Kenyan side. The Shujaa put on a commanding display of pace, power, and precision, asserting their status as one of the tournament favourites.
Refusing to be deterred, the Eagles bounced back in emphatic fashion, crushing Côte d’Ivoire 29–0 in their final group game. A combination of solid defence and sharp attacking saw Ghana finish Day One with two wins and a loss—an impressive showing in a competitive Pool A.
