President John Dramani Mahama has donated assorted cleaning materials and food supplies to the Mamprobi Polyclinic as part of activities marking the government’s National General Clean-Up Exercise.
The donation formed part of the President’s participation in the two-day nationwide sanitation campaign, which aims to improve environmental cleanliness, promote healthy living, and encourage citizens to take collective responsibility for keeping their communities clean.
The items presented included a variety of cleaning supplies to support sanitation efforts at the health facility, as well as food items for the benefit of patients and staff.

The gesture underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare facilities while promoting hygiene and disease prevention.
President Mahama used the occasion to reaffirm the importance of maintaining clean surroundings, especially in healthcare institutions where sanitation plays a critical role in preventing infections and protecting public health.
He noted that the National General Clean-Up Exercise is not only about clearing drains and sweeping streets but also about fostering a culture of cleanliness across homes, schools, markets, hospitals, and workplaces. He urged Ghanaians to make environmental sanitation a daily habit rather than an occasional activity.

The donation to the Mamprobi Polyclinic complemented the clean-up activities carried out by government officials, security agencies, community volunteers, traditional leaders, and civil society groups across the country.
The nationwide exercise, held on July 10 and 11, witnessed thousands of volunteers desilting gutters, clearing refuse dumps, sweeping streets, and removing weeds in a renewed effort to reduce flooding, improve public health, and restore cleanliness in communities.

President Mahama has also indicated that government is considering introducing a dedicated monthly national clean-up day to sustain the momentum and instill a lasting culture of environmental responsibility throughout the country.
